Timberwolves’ Mike Conley hit with concerning injury update before Game 5 vs. Nuggets

Anthony Edwards and the Minnesota Timberwolves are currently searching for answers ahead of Game 5 of what has been a whirlwind of a series between themselves and the Denver Nuggets in the Western Conference semifinals. Edwards has been brilliant for three out of the four games so far, but the Timberwolves now find themselves tied at 2-2 despite stealing not one but two road games in Ball Arena in Denver to open up the series last week.

This all sets the stage for what figures to be a Game 5 on Tuesday evening filled with high drama, and if the latest injury report is any indication, there’s a chance that the Timberwolves could be without one of their key pieces for the contest.

“Timberwolves PG Mike Conley (right Achilles soreness) has been added to the injury report as questionable,” reported ESPN NBA insider Tim MacMahon on X, the social media platform formerly referred to as Twitter.

The good news for the Timberwolves is that no other players appeared on the injury report.

A roller coaster of a series

After winning Game 2 in Denver in blowout fashion, the Timberwolves were riding high, and there’s a chance that they let all of the media attention and praise they received in the three days off between Games 2 and 3 get to their head a little bit.

It wasn’t a shock that the Nuggets came out playing with intensity on Friday evening in Game 3, but it was a bit jarring that they were able to handle the Timberwolves so easily despite the exact opposite occurring in the previous game in Denver.

However, what was truly shocking was just how powerless the Timberwolves looked against Nikola Jokic and company on Sunday evening despite playing what appeared to be some of their best basketball, particularly from Edwards. While casual fans have called out the un-aesthetically pleasing play of Rudy Gobert as the culprit for the team’s Game 4 struggles, the Timberwolves actually outscored the Nuggets by nine points during the minutes Gobert was on the floor.

In any case, Game 5 is set to get underway at 10:30 PM ET from the Ball Arena.
