UFC 293 Takes a Hit as Main Card Fighter Pulls Out With an Injury

Kai Kara-France is out of his fight with Manel Kape on the main card of UFC 293 on September 9. The Aussie fighter released a statement on his Instagram on August 21, exclaiming that he'd suffered a concussion in training, forcing his withdrawal from the Sydney event.

"Unfortunately I've had to withdraw from my next fight... I suffered a concussion over the weekend at training... [my coaches and family] all think it's the right decision to put my health first."

Kara-France apologized to all his friends, family and fans that had bought tickets to the event.

Kara-France's scheduled opponent, Kape, couldn't have been angrier with the decision. The former RIZIN bantamweight champion lashed out at Kara-France in a scathing Tweet just an hour after the announcement:

"[Kara-France] you piece of s***, you come to my Instagram saying "you better show up" and now you give up the fight, you f****** coward... Another one."

This marks the sixth cancellation Kape has endured in the UFC, and his third back-to-back cancellation overall. Kape has only been responsible for one of his cancellations when he tested positive for Turinabol Metabolite against Sumadaerji in 2022.

UFC 293 is a little under three-weeks away, so Kape has plenty of time to be rescheduled against another game flyweight.
